Filipino residents assess damage of Typhoon Rammasun

Residents in the Philippines begin to repair houses destroyed by Typhoon Rammasun Friday.<br/> <br />Disaster officials say fifty-four people have died and three are missing.<br/> <br />Hundreds of thousands were left homeless.<br/> <br />They've taken refuge in evacuation centers.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Filipino) TYPHOON SURVIVOR DIANE VENDIOLA SAYING:<br/> <br />"Our house was destroyed and we need help. Our house has been destroyed a lot of times, and look how few of our belongings we have left. It's always been like this."<br/> <br />Repair work also starts on a bridge south of Manila that is a vital trade route.<br/> <br />The Philippines sees an average of 20 typhoons each year, mostly during the onset of the rainy season from June to October.<br/> <br />Many Filipinos are still recovering from last November's Typhoon Haiyan, which killed more than 6,100 people and left millions homeless.
