Aleksandr Borodai, the leader of the self-proclaimed People’s Republic of Donetsk has told a news conference that what he believes to be the black boxes from flight MH17 are in his keeping.<br /><br />Borodai told reporters: “I can tell you that, as of today, we have found some technical details of the plane, which we suppose could be the black boxe, the so-called black boxes.”<br /><br />Borodai said he was ready to hand over the objects that he believes to be the black boxes to officials from the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).<br /><br />The Ukrainian Security Service posted a recording online that it claimed was part of telephone call between two rebels discussing the black boxes on Friday, the day after the MH17 crash.<br /><br />The recording features the voice of a man, named by the Ukrainian Security Service as rebel commander Oleksandr Khodakovsky, asking other rebels about the black boxes.<br /><br />In the recording, the voice of the man named as Khodakovsky says “Moscow” wants to know about the black boxes – and when he is told that something that could be a flight recorder has been found, he gives the instruction to “hide” it.
