The festival season is upon us again, and in Austria, the Salzburger Festspiele opened with its traditional performance of Jedermann (Everyman), a play about a rich man called to the final judgement before God, featuring spectacular costumes.

Actress Brigitte Hobmeier, who plays Buhlschaft/Paramour in the production, said: “There is a strong symbolism of flowers around the personage of Paramour. There are flowers included in her dress, and the crystals are finally allowed to glitter again.”

Cornelius Obonya, who has the leading role of Everyman, also was very aware of the remarkable costume: “The dress does play a part of its own in the sense that I hope I won’t step on the long train. As for Everyman, it is always a new and beautiful sensation and I like to see it.”

The festival runs until 31 August. For more information see ==
