A series of huge explosions shook Gaza right up until Saturday's brief 12-hour truce kicked in.<br/> <br />Several houses were reduced to rubble in the onslaught.<br/> <br />Gaza health officials said 18 members of one family were killed when their house was hit.<br/> <br />Earlier militants fired a barrage of rockets from Gaza, triggering sirens across much of southern and central Israel although no casualties were reported.<br/> <br />The truce, which began at 0500GMT, hasn't impressed many of Gaza's residents.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) GAZAN REFUGED TO UNRWA SCHOOL FROM ISRAELI ATTACKS, ALAA ZAIED, SAYING:<br/> <br />"We are looking for a long term truce, we do not want to keep waiting for a truce day after day.
