Born and brought up in the culturally rich city of Lucknow, Sangeeta inherited music genes from her father who started training her from the tender age of 8. She performed on AIR Lucknow and Lucknow Doordarshan as a child artiste and gradually became a graded artiste. With her masters in Psychology, she took formal training in Hindustani classical singing from prestigious Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapeeth, Lucknow and became a B-high graded artiste. She has performed at different AIR stations in the country such as Bhopal, Pune, Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Srinagar and even Leh. Before coming to Mumbai, Sangeetas first album Agan was released in the North-Eastern parts of India which was very well received by everyone. Her second album was a remix album, released by HMV, in which she has one song to her credit Mera Naam Hai Chameli.<br />Sangeetas major break came through when she gave her voice to the title track of the film Vaada produced by Vashu Bhagnani. She was fortunate to have sung the song under the music direction of the famous music composer, singer and actor Himesh Reshammiya.<br />Sangeetas fresh and sweet voice is a treat for the ears. She doesnt only render the lyrics but also gives them meaning and soul with her expressive voice.<br />Music is a passion for her. It was her passion that made her travel through 40 kilometers of bad terrain and narrow hilly roads of Ladakh to reach Leh radio station from the village where her army officer husband was posted. Sangeeta firmly believes that good melodies are timeless. Different genres may come and go like storms but nobody can uproot good music. She feels that technology is a boon to the music industry but it should not overpower emotions in music or else it will be soulless. Through her songs, she wants to put the emotions and feelings back into music.<br />Now, you can experience different shades of love with her in her new album Jee LIya Jaaye which is releasing on Worldwide Records. Through this album Sangeeta has tried to express how a woman feels about love at different stages of her life.<br />Women mostly are burdened with endless responsibilities, juggling between their careers and family, somewhere down the line they forget about themselves, their identity is lost in the myriad of roles they play. This album gives them the opportunity to pause and pull out their feelings of love slowly, which was buried under a heavy layer of responsibilities.
