Rome gives pedestrians right of way at more of its monuments

Rome has unveiled the lasted in a series of new pedestrian-only zones in the capital.<br /><br />The historic square at the foot of the city’s monumental Spanish Steps has been closed to traffic bringing a breath of fresh air to the area.<br /><br />Car drivers face a fine of 80 euros if they park or encroach near the tourist hot spot.<br /><br />The decision to restrict the area to bicycles and emergency vehicles follows the closure last summer to traffic around the ancient Colosseum.<br /><br />The new regulations are to last until November.
