European leaders gathered in Belgium, paying tribute to the millions who died in the first world war.<br/> <br />Politicians and royalty from 83 countries came here to mark the day German troops invaded Belgium.<br/> <br />British Prime Minister Cameron and Prince William laid wreaths at a twilight ceremony in St Symphorien military cemetery here in Mons.<br/> <br />They were accompanied by Germany's President and the Belgium Prince Philippe. Once enemies, now standing united.<br/> <br />A lone bugler played the Last Post, ending the day of ceremonies commemorating 100 years since the UK entered World War One in 1914.<br/> <br />And lanterns were placed with the wreaths to remember the conflict that ended in 1918 and became known as the Great War.
