Liberian president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has pledged over thirteen point four million euros to health workers who have been fighting the Ebola oubreak in the country. <br /><br />The funds are to be used to help with insurance and death benefits, to buy more ambulances and increase the number of treatment centres.<br /><br />Speaking a press conference in Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said: <br /><br />“If we haven’t done enough so far, I come here to apologise to you for that.”<br /><br />Meanwhile in Nigeria, the government has been looking at ways of curtailing the spread of Ebola in the country. <br /><br />However, many people have taken to social media to make jokes about the virus and suggest alternative ways of avoiding it. There are even skeptics of its existence.<br /><br />Social media-users have been sharing pictures of the Ebola hug, the Ebola handshake and the Ebola kiss.<br /><br />Some people believe that adding salt to water helps ward off the deadly disease. <br /><br />Meanwhile, Guinea has denied closing its borders with Sierra Leone and Liberia despite the country’s health minister announcing the measure on Saturday.
