This tournament is held in memory of (L) Mr. R.N.Tamchon, ACP, Delhi Police under the motto "Excellence with truth and dignity". The tournament is organized on invitational basis with sixteen teams from all North Eastern Region including Sikkim. The main objective of the trophy is to promote unity, friendship, understanding and sportsmanship amongst the people of North East of India. At the same time it aims to provide opportunity to talented football players to display their potential. This year, the winner will be awarded with the North East Tamchon Trophy in addition to Rs. 5.00 lakhs cash prize, medals and certificates. The trophy can be owned by any team who wins the trophy consecutively for three years and the runners up will be awarded with medals, certificates and cash prizes of Rs. 3.00 lakhs and Rs. 2.00 lakhs respectively.
