Hundreds of mourners have attended the funeral of Italian journalist Simone Camilli, killed in Gaza after an Israeli shell exploded while being diffused.<br /><br />Five others lost their lives in the tragedy.<br /><br />The 35-year-old father of one was laid to rest in his hometown of Pitigliano in the Tuscan hills. <br /><br />Camilli was working for the Associated Press at the time of his death.<br /><br />Associated Press president Gary Pruitt paid tribute: “ I didn’t know Simone well enough, bit I can tell you from seeing his work, I think he would want his efforts to continue, to tell the human side of the story in war.”<br /><br />His body arrived in the Italian capital, Rome, from Israel and was greeted at the airport by Italian Foreign Minister Federica Mogherini.<br /><br />He was then transported to his final resting place in Tuscany.
