The latest wildfire in California has begun threatening homes in the Wofford Heights area in southern Sierra Nevada.<br /><br />Several buildings have been reported ablaze and helicopters have been sent to dump water on the area.<br /><br />Local news said the fire covered about 700 acres. Evacuation plans are on standby for nearby residents<br /><br />Earlier this month three firefighters were trapped and had to deploy personal fire shelters as a rapid wind shift sent a Northern California wildfire burning over their location. <br /><br />All three survived with no serious injuries.<br />
