The Thai parliament elects current military junta Prayuth Chan-Ocha as the country's new prime minister.<br/> <br />In a vote of 191 in favor, and none against, Pryuth is awarded the title from a parliament he hand picked.<br/> <br />Prayuth seized power in May during a coup after six months of sometimes deadly protests against then Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.<br/> <br />Although his appointment paves the way for an interim government to be set up in the coming weeks, power will remain firmly in the junta's hands.<br/> <br />The general has said he plans to press ahead with a year of political reforms before new elections in late 2015.
