A SpaceX rocket exploded in mid-air early Friday evening.<br /><br />The unmanned rocket exploded shortly after launch around 5:45 p.m. during a test flight at the SpaceX testing facility in McGregor.<br /><br />According to a statement from the company, no injuries were reported.<br /><br />Witnesses reported several grass fires start from falling debris, but none of the fires were reported to be serious in nature.<br /><br />The statement from SpaceX goes on to say that the test flight involved a three-engine version of its reusable Falcon 9 rocket.<br /><br />It says an "anomaly" was detected and that the rocket self-destructed, as it is designed to do.<br /><br />The rocket stayed in the designated testing area during the explosion and a representative from the Federal Aviation Administration was present during the testing.<br /><br />No other information about the explosion was immediately made available.<br /><br />Credit: KWTX
