Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed a decree on Monday to dissolve parliament, paving the way for a new election.<br /><br />He announced the move on Twitter saying “I have decided to prematurely end the authority of parliament”.<br /><br />His spokesperson then tweeted that the election would be held on 26 October.<br /><br />In an address Poroshenko said that the current parliament was used to support former president Yanukovych, and that it was not possible to win the war with it. <br /><br />He added that “we need to start the cleansing process with the law-making body” and that he was “acting in accordance with the Ukraine Constitution”.
