Thousands mourn at funeral of Michael Brown

Thousands of mourners have attended a two- and-a-half-hour funeral service for Michael Brown, the black teenager shot dead by a white police officer <br /><br />He was laid to rest in St Louis in Missouri in the United States.<br /><br />Civil rights leader Reverend Al Sharpton delivered one of the eulogies, criticising those who had rioted and looted stores after the teenager was shot.<br /><br />“Michael Brown must be remembered for more than disturbances. He must be remembered for this is when they started changing what was going on,” Sharpton said.<br /><br />On Sunday evening, Brown’s father appealed for calm and peace on the day of his son’s funeral, a wish which was clearly respected.<br /><br />Michael Brown’s death has focused attention on racial tension and relations in the United States but Monday’s service was a chance to celebrate his life.
