Buñol in Spain runs tomato red as tourists flock to Tomatina

The streets of an eastern Spanish town turned red as Buñol celebrated its annual tomato-throwing fiesta.<br /><br />The Tomatina has become a major tourist attraction, bringing many people from countries such as Australia, Britain, Japan and New Zealand.<br /><br />Trucks dumped 125 tonnes of ripe tomatoes for an estimated 22,000 participants.<br /><br />For the second year running they were charged 10 euros to help the town pay off debts.<br /><br />The event was inspired by a children’s food fight in 1945.
