Colombian hired killer known as “Popeye”, has been released from prison after serving 22 years of a 30-year sentence.<br /><br />John Jairo Velasquez who was hit man for drug baron Pablo Escobar confessed to killing 300 people. in the 1980s and 1990s.<br /><br />He was escorted from the high security prison to begin a probation period of four years.<br /><br />Valasquez was convicted for killing presidential candidate Luis Carlos Galan in 1989 but turned states witness against former Justice Minister Alberto Santofimio who had ordered Galan’s killing.
