I have many examples, but here are a few I get asked all the time: <br /> <br />1) Is it true that you have to let a pregnant woman pee in your hat if she asks? [I get asked this maybe 1 in 20 duties, and the answer is no.] <br /> <br />2) Whilst I'm standing in front of a cordon across a road, directing traffic away from it: "Is this road closed? Oh... Can I get through?" [at least once a minute whilst on a cordon] <br /> <br />3) "Do you have a camera in your helmet?" [Maybe 1 in 10 duties, remember in the UK we wear large 'custodian' helmets] <br /> <br /> <br />"Can you tell me where [completely obscure business name] is?" I offer to look it up for them and they pull out a smartphone - stopping a policeman was obviously easier than looking on Google Maps. <br />At 2 am, in the middle of London: "Can you tell me how to get to [somewhere many miles outside London] ?" When I remind them that trains don't run overnight and that their only options are to wait or take a taxi: "I'm not paying for a taxi! How are you going to get me home?" Just tell your friend that you are here to listen and if they want to talk, just sit in silence or a shoulder to cry on. You yourself need to seek someone out to do the same thing. <br /> <br />This family is going to need an immense amount of support. It is the little things that can seem so overwhelming. Make a meal, go to the store for them, walk their dog if they have one, do their laundry (I had a friend who was temp. homeless and did the kids clothes for six months), mow the lawn. There are so many jobs that you and your family and friends can do to help them out. Find out what they need and organize a "to do" list that people can sign up for to carry and support them. <br /> <br />Hugs. <br />[] He's in my opinion the most underrated actor of our time. He was brilliant in Malcolm in the Middle and didn't get nearly the recognition he deserved for it until after people saw how fucking amazing he was in Breaking Bad. He only had I think 5 spots on Seinfeld but was solid there as well.
