Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday arrived in Rawalakot district of Azad Kashmir to get a first hand account of the devastation caused by the torrential rains and to speed up the rescue and relief operations., Dunya News reported. <br />AJK Chief Secretary briefed PM that several roads have been blocked due to massive landsliding. He said 64 people died due to heavy downpours and floods in Azad Kashmir. <br />The Prime Minister was informed that 1800 houses were completely destroyed, 185 shops damaged, 12 bridges and 9 electricity projects were affected by the flashfloods. <br />District administration with the help of army personnel moved 1,112 flood affectees to safer locations while the families have been provided camps and commodities as well. <br />Later, the Prime Minister addressed a cheque distribution ceremony in Rawlakot. <br />On the occasion, the Prime Minister said that every nook and corner of the country is beloved to him and he will reach everywhere to mitigate the sufferings of his countrymen. <br />Looking after the needs and hardships of flood victims is responsibility of the state, he said. <br />Nawaz Sharif said journey of progress will remain continue.
