This year's top prize at Venice went to Swedish director Roy Andersson's offbeat comedy "A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence"<br/> <br />.<br/> <br />Appearing on the red carpet with his Golden Lion right after the ceremony, Andersson said being honoured in Italy was the icing on the cake.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE, Roy Andersson, director, saying (English):<br/> <br />"You can never suspect but I know I made a good job but I'm happy that the jury has appreciated it. That's enough. That's so fantastic. Especially here in Italy with its enormous film history which has inspired me a lot"<br/> <br />In the film a businessman about to shoot himself in a posh office takes a final call on his mobile phone.<br/> <br />Andersson is one of Sweden's most successful filmmakers since Ingmar Bergman, and the creator of many often hilarious television commercials.
