Footage has been released showing Turkish coastguards rescuing around 35 illegal migrants when their boat sank of the country’s western Aegean coast.<br /><br />The migrants, mainly from Syria and Eritrea included women and children. <br /><br />Turkish officials said they rescued 385 migrants in several operations at the weekend.<br /><br />Turkey is a favoured destination by those seeking a better life due to its position as a bridge from Asia to Europe as well as its wealth compared with neighbouring states.<br /><br />Tens of thousands of immigrants cross Greece’s sea and land borders every year, the vast majority via Turkey.
