Aristide supporters maintain vigil against arrest warrant

Supporters of former Haitian President Jean-Bertrande Aristide keep vigil outside his home.<br/> <br />Police have held an arrest warrant for the former leader in connection with a money laundering case since mid-August.<br/> <br />But since then, his supporters have blocked the entrance to his Port-au-Prince home with trees and burning tires, and no arrest has been made.<br/> <br />They accuse local authorities of political persecution against their former president.<br/> <br />Aristide, seen here in 2013 arriving for a court appearance, is accused of embezzling hundreds of millions of dollars from the government over several years.<br/> <br />He's a former priest-turned politician and still very popular among Haiti's poor.<br/> <br />The head of police has been called before a judge to explain why no arrest has been made.<br/> <br />The chief says police are holding several arrest warrants for Aristide, but didn't give further details.
