Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has been admitted to Humber River Hospital and diagnosed with a tumor, officials said Wednesday (September 10).<br/> <br />Ford, who gained international notoriety after a well-publicized battle with addiction, went to the hospital complaining of abdominal pains that had plagued him for three months but had worsened in recent hours, Humber River hospital said in a statement.<br/> <br />"Examination and investigation has resulted in a working diagnosis of a tumor," said Dr. Rueben Devlin, the hospital's president. "The mayor has been admitted to allow for further investigation to obtain a definitive diagnosis."<br/> <br />"It wasn't a small tumor, but the size is not as relevant as what it is... What we really need is a biopsy..." Devlin said.<br/> <br />Ford became famous globally after admitting in November that he had smoked crack while in a "drunken stupor."
