British weapons arrive in Kurdistan to fight Islamic State militants

The fight against Islamic State militants in Western Iraq is growing in strength with backing from the US military.<br /><br /> Iraq’s Defence Ministry released footage on Thursday which it claimed shows its troops expelling Islamic State militants out of an area in Anbar province in the west of the country.<br /><br />A military spokesman said Iraqi soldiers had captured two fighters, one a Saudi national and the other from Tajikistan.<br /><br />Meanwhile a shipment of arms to Kurdish forces from Britain arrived in Irbil on Thursday. The machine guns and ammunition are understood to have cost two million euros.<br /><br />British Prime Minister David Cameron says he has not ruled out British involvement in any military strikes.
