An alleged German jihadist has gone on trial in Frankfurt charged with membership of a terrorist organisation.<br /><br />Twenty-year-old Kreshnik Berisha is accused of fighting for Islamic militants in Syria.<br /><br />He could face ten years in jail if found guilty.<br /><br />However, the court has proposed a lighter sentence in exchange for a full confession. His lawyers have yet to respond. <br /><br />Prosecutors say the man travelled to Syria via Turkey after becoming radicalised while on a job training programme.<br /><br />Germany is currently investigating 140 cases connected to ISIL membership.
