Houthis tighten grip on Yemen's capital

Houthi Shi'ite rebels celebrate a win over government forces Monday after they seized a key military post just outside of Yemen's capital, Sanaa.<br/> <br />Their assault Sunday targeted the headquarters of the First Armored Division, a force they describe as loyal to Sunni Islamist parties.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) HOUTHI REBEL, ABU ABDULLAH, SAYING:<br/> <br />"Thank God, we have taken full control over this camp, where they used to train militants and a civilian committee is now controlling this area."<br/> <br />On Sunday, the Houthis reached a deal with the government after advancing on major state institutions in the capital, largely unopposed by troops and security forces.<br/> <br />The accord aims to address a decade-old Shi'ite Houthi insurgency and a spate of bloodshed this month that posed a major threat to UN-backed efforts to stabilize the country.<br/> <br />The Houthis have fought for more rights for Shi'ites in Yemen, one of the poorest Arab countries, where the US is waging a separate drone
