Campaign expenditure in Brazil has risen steadily from US$77 million in 1994 to nearly US$370 million this year. Brazil's incumbent President Dilma Rousseff is favored to win Sunday's elections. She has a strong popular base. Under the rule of her Worker's Party, Brazil has seen incredible advances. Between 2002 and 2013 extreme poverty dropped from 15% to 5.2%, general poverty from 34% to 15% and the average minimum monthly wage rose to US$305.00 from US$86.00, bringing 42 million Brazilians out of poverty and 38 million into the middle class. teleSURcorrespondent Stephanie Kennedy reports from Brazil
