A face off in the streets of Hong Kong.<br /> <br />Hundreds of pro-government supporters, angry at protesters occupying the city centre, stormed the protest encampment in a bid to drive them away.<br /> <br />Many protesters were forced to retreat, but not without a fight.<br /> <br />In the past week, tens of thousands of demonstrators have occupied Hong Kong streets, demanding full democracy... including a free voting system when they come to choose a new leader in 2017.<br /> <br />The mood has been tense since last weekend's violent clashes with police.<br /> <br />Now, authorities say they'll exercise tolerance but warn protesters against blocking busy streets.<br /> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) CHIEF SUPERINTENDENT OF POLICE PUBLIC RELATIONS BRANCH, HUI CHUN-TAK SAYING:<br /> <br />"This behaviour is not only irresponsible but also law-breaking."<br /> <br />And those who support the government say the protests are futile.
