Red letter day in Paris as titillating cabaret The Moulin Rouge celebrates 125 years

The Moulin Rouge, the Parisian cabaret beloved by Toulouse-Lautrec, is celebrating its 125th anniversary.<br /><br />To mark the milestone the club is to recreate some of the burlesque shows from the early years.<br /><br />Not everyone is celebratory mood in Pigalle.<br /><br />Two members of the Femen group appeared bare breasted on the roof of the theatre with slogans reading “not for sale” daubed on their chests.<br /><br />The movement issued a statement saying red light districts “must no longer be the scene of odious entertainment in which women continue to be placed in submission and exploited.”<br /><br />Despite the protests Jacques Offenbach’s ‘Infernal Galop’ continues to bring the house down nightly.
