The Spanish government is under pressure to guarantee the safety of its citizens after a nurse contracted the Ebola virus, the first positive diagnosis in Western Europe.

Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy faced questions in the Spanish parliament: “The first objective is to attend to the people infected with the disease. There is one case for the moment.
The second objective is to monitor all the people that have been in contact with her.
Thirdly we need to investigate why and how this infection happened.
And fourthly we must explain the situation to the public.
What I ask now is that we let the professionals continue their work,” said Rahoy.

The infected health care worker is said to be in a stable condition.
