Spanish officials determined to contain the spread of Ebola have killed the pet dog belonging to a nurse infected with the deadly virus.<br /><br />When a group of men wearing white protective suits showed up outside the nurse and her husband’s home, animal rights activists chanted: “Murderers! Killers!”<br /><br />The nurse’s husband, who has also been quarantined, recorded a video appeal.<br /><br />“Hello, I’m Javier, Teresa Romero’s husband. I’m in the hospital and I’m asking everybody to help me save my dog Excalibur. They want to kill it without giving it a chance (no tests, no quarantine…),” he said in the appeal.<br /><br />There are no documented cases of dogs passing the Ebola virus to humans.<br /><br />More than 300,000 people signed an online petition to save Excalibur before it was killed by authorities.
