South Korean protesters led by North Korean defectors released huge balloons on Friday (October 10), containing anti-Pyongyang leaflets, that were intended to drift across the border into the reclusive state.<br/> <br />About 50 protesters at the border city of Paju launched 10 balloons containing 200,000 leaflets, 1,000 U.S. dollars, 400 DVDs and 300 books showing life in South Korea.<br/> <br />The balloons were released as hopes were raised of an improvement in relations between the two countries, following a surprise visit of a top-ranking North Korean delegation to the South last week.<br/> <br />The visit resulted in an agreement to resume a high-level dialogue that had been suspended for seven months as military tensions on the divided peninsula soared.
