ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />Hong Kong police said on Thursday (October 16) the officers suspected of beating a pro-democracy protester had been suspended.<br/> <br />A video of the beating of Ken Tsang Kin-chiu, a social worker and member of the pro-democracy Civic Party in a dark corner in the early morning hours of Wednesday (October 15) has gone viral.<br/> <br />Tsang has said he will take legal action against the officers involved.<br/> <br />Senior superintendent of the Police Public Relations Branch, Kong Man-keung, told journalists in a news conference that the seven officers - two inspectors and five junior police officers - had been suspended.<br/> <br />"It is confirmed that seven police officers took action at scene and arrest the complainant. The seven officers have now been interdicted from duty," Kong said.<br/> <br />He stressed that the police force would be impartial in the investigation of the case.<br/> <br />"Hong Kong Police is a law-abiding and professional law-enforcement agency.
