A Facebook page has been set up to share information on trekkers who have been found safe.

Rescue efforts centred on the highest point in the trail which loops around Annapurna, the 10th highest peak in the world.

At least 154 people were rescued according to officials, among them were 76 foreigners.

The freak heavy snowfall during peak season caught trekkers and their guides off-guard.
