Ce rassemblement pacifique va s'achever par un bain de sang : des milliers d'Algériens arrêtés et des cadavres repêchés dans la Seine, telle est l'étendue des dégâts provoqué par la manifestation. Les évènements sont raccontés par différents personnages : un ouvrier de nuit non militant, un policier syndicaliste, un cadre du FLN.
