The president of Liberia has called for stronger international action to bring Ebola under control. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said the outbreak will leave a “lost generation” of young West Africans. <br /><br />Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone have been worst hit. The latest figures from the World Health Organisation show the virus has killed more than 4,500 people there since March.<br /><br />In the EU, France has begun checking for symptoms of Ebola at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport. <br /><br />Passengers arriving from Guinea have been screened using temperature scanners as part of increased efforts to prevent the global spread of the virus.<br /><br />Britain has deployed military personnel to help set up treatment centres and an Ebola training academy.<br /><br />Meanwhile Fidel Castro has said Cuba is ready to cooperate with the US to fight Ebola.<br /><br />It has already sent medics to Sierra Leone and plans to send others soon to Liberia and Guinea.
