An intruder sparked a security alert at the White House on Wednesday evening when he jumped a fence into the grounds. <br /><br />The unarmed man made his way across the north lawn before being brought down by specially trained Secret Service dogs. He was then arrested.<br /><br />But the breach in security coming as it did on the same day a gunman attacked Canada’s parliament, caused police to initiate their own lockdown of the building until it was clear the man was on his own.<br /><br />The incident comes roughly a month after an other intruder that time armed with a knife scaled the White House fence and made it inside the executive mansion.<br /><br />That incident raised questions about levels of security and led to the resignation of then-Secret Service Director Julia Pierson.
