Boeing has revealed that it recently sold aircraft-related goods to Iran Air.

That would be the first acknowledged dealings between an American aerospace company and Iran since the 1979 US hostage crisis.

The sales were of manuals, drawings, navigation charts and data, but Boeing said it may consider selling aircraft spare parts for Iran Air’s ageing fleet in the future.

Boeing made about $120,000 (95,000 euros) in revenue and about $12,000 (9,500 euros) in net profit from the sales, miniscule amounts for a company that reported $23.7 billion (18.7 billion euros) in sales in the latest quarter.

Boeing and engine maker General Electric were granted export licences in April by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control under a temporary sanctions relief deal after Tehran agreed to temporarily curtailed its nuclear activities.
