Like falling into the depths of lonliness, <br />I see only darkness. <br />I've been here so many times before, <br />or maybe I just never left. <br />The only person you can trust, <br />is yourself. <br />Left waiting, <br />I lay here without a sound. <br />I promised to never stop trying, <br />I never was good at keeping promises. <br />Intoxicated from the pain, <br />I turn and close my eyes. <br />I cling to the pillows I've layed around me. <br />Is this what love is? <br />Is this how I'm suppost to feel? <br />Such a sharp pain fills my lungs, <br />you make it hard to breathe. <br />Countless times, <br />you've left me waiting, <br />hanging on for something else. <br />But you pull the chair from under my feet each time. <br />Watch me struggle to breathe like this. <br />Tears down my face, <br />my fists clenched. <br />I know I will never see you again. <br />I know I was not ment to see you again. <br />You can never truely lose what was never yours. <br />I was never yours. <br />You were never mine. <br />The ink in my skin, burns. <br />My scars pulse, wounds emerge from my flesh. <br />You've left me alone, again. <br />Im sinking into my own thoughts. <br />Not a bottle nor tablet, looked so good. <br />In the secrets of my lonliness, <br />I cry. <br />Fearful of your love, <br />I can not breathe.<br /><br />Dakota Ellerton<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/hard-to-breathe-5/
