Dark shdows fall across my mind, <br />voices fade into the night, <br />I stand alone on the edge of time, <br />won't someone lead me into the light. <br /> <br />I feel them stare from outside this veil of shadow, <br />but alone I must face the eternal dark, <br />my soul is stripped bare, I cry into the darkness, <br />won't someone lead me into the light. <br /> <br />have I no faith in God above? <br />have I no faith in those that are near? <br />have I no faith in my body, or my soul? <br />I fear I shall never see the light. <br /> <br />alone I walk this path I must follow, <br />each step torn from within my soul, <br />In my dreams I hear your voice, I reach out my hand, <br />won't you lead me into the light. <br /> <br />If I could only touch a star I would find you there, <br />your eyes, your smile, so soft and warm, <br />In tender love you'll take my hand and then, <br />only then, will you lead me into the light.<br /><br />Paul Newman<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/lead-me-into-the-light/
