Cute little button nose, <br />Alert black eyes, <br />Cold damp nose, <br />My birthday surprise. <br /> <br />A little runt, <br />Stubby paws, <br />A nub for a tail, <br />Sharp tiny claws. <br />He would let out a yip, <br />Boy, he could wail. <br /> <br />Romping and yipping, <br />Too young to bark, <br />My cute little puppy, <br />Enjoyed our time at the park. <br /> <br />Panting and running, <br />Here and there I would hide, <br />My little Tippy, <br />Always ran to my side. <br /> <br />My little pal Tippy, <br />Such a loyal sidekick, <br />I'd give him a treat, <br />He'd learn a trick. <br /> <br />One day while strolling, <br />Home from a game, <br />Horror and shock, <br />A speeding car came. <br /> <br />Tippy was running, <br />Looking at me, <br />From across the block, <br />I new that car would not stop. <br /> <br />The driver never saw little Tippy, <br />He raced closer, <br />Never slowed down. <br /> <br />My heart skipped a beat, <br />Tippy was crushed, <br />Dead in the street. <br /> <br />My cute little buddy, <br />He was the best, <br />With a broken heart, <br />I laid him to rest. <br /> <br />A cute little puppy, <br />Who slept in my bed, <br />I can't get that picture, <br />Out of my head. <br /> <br />It's been a year, <br />Since Tippy went away, <br />I still miss my Tippy, <br />My buddy, <br />Each waking day.<br /><br />Philip Lore<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/in-memory-of-tippy-my-little-puppy-my-pal/
