I am standing in darkness. <br />I wish for no solitary here. <br />Then why do I infer fear, <br />And feel so helpless? <br /> <br />I dream for a companion. <br />Maybe my Prince will arrive, <br />And acknowledge I am alive. <br />Then my heart will see alteration. <br /> <br />I sense the time is mooring soon. <br />Suddenly my door opened wide, <br />And a young man entered inside. <br /> “Hello, Is anyone in this room? ” <br /> <br />Yes, welcome to my blackness. <br />I have been longing for a mate. <br />Come and stay with me for a wait? <br />Maybe I have found new happiness. <br /> <br />I lit a candle to start our evening. <br />Together we sat down to chat. <br />The light danced around my flat <br />Our night was only beginning. <br /> <br />The minutes just rushed on <br />We told each other stories to live by <br />Once in awhile, I let out a joyous cry, <br />But for now all my worries were gone. <br /> <br />My Prince and I sat in my bedroom. <br />Who knows what will happen tomorrow. <br />I pray for ever happiness and no sorrow, <br />And that a magical light will shine soon. <br /> <br />I am not apprehensive anymore. <br />A strong comely man is in my arms. <br />The gloom from long ago seems far. <br />My life is not somber anymore.<br /><br />Monica Engeler<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-dark-room/
