As I look at my shoe rack <br />I know I have walked far <br />Walked to the moon and back <br />Weary like a potato sack <br />Sometimes on the right track <br />Trekking thousand of miles <br />Encountered with cries and smiles <br />My own courage I never lack <br /> <br />Even the fastest car <br />Could not have gone that far <br />It would have broken down <br />Somewhere along the way <br /> <br />With a driver at the wheel <br />I may never have been able to tell <br />The fake from the real <br />Or the difference between <br />Heaven and hell <br />It is only my will <br />Which carries me through day by day <br />As I pray not to be led astray <br /> <br />It’s a long walk home <br />Hammered by rocks and stones <br />Paths filled with flowers and thorns <br />At times I felt alone <br />The everyday obstacles <br />Blessed sometimes by sudden miracles <br />While trying to survive <br /> <br />Climbing hills <br />And mountains made of steel <br />Drenched in pouring rain <br />Confused by crossroads <br />I am getting there <br />Stepping on each road with care <br />I am getting near <br />Jumping up and down with fear <br />It’s a long walk home <br /> <br />Copyright 2005 - Sylvia Chidi<br /><br />Sylvia Chidi<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/long-walk-home/
