Tan Pratonix - The Dogs and the Demons

2014-10-28 0 Dailymotion

The dogs and the demons prowling at night-time
For cats on the rooftops, in gardens and bins,
Nod at the owl in the temple - the right time
To make thieving felines pay for their sins.

The bull in the pasture has kicked up a ruckus
Tearing the earth with his hooves and his horns;
But the dogs and the demons, they call him a jackass
And growl in the thunder of thundering storms.

The babe and its mother asleep in the kitchen
Wake to the scratch of a ravenous claw;
The door which has opened to let an old witch in
Bangs shut on a face and a demonish paw.

The dogs and the demons have set up a howling;
The cat on the hearth, all yellow with fright,
Clings to the broom when the witch begins growling
And swoops through the window into the night.

Tan Pratonix

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-dogs-and-the-demons/
