The billowing night transcended all thought <br />Above the snow-studded leaves of tree crests, <br />Row by row <br />They stand on altars of frost <br />In the arms of Winter's bare breasts. <br /> <br />A father and a child sit atop the hill <br />And lay gazes upon the sweltering sky-raven <br />As a glowing gash <br />Rent across its chest <br />To reveal a sparkle-dust wound, brazen. <br /> <br />The child's eyes glittered at the pale cerulean, <br />The pink halo <br />Suspended in space, <br />The ever-reaching Hand of Light reaching out <br />To touch the freckles on his face. <br /> <br />His father turned to him, seeing his son's eyes <br />Glittering at these star-sailed legions. <br />'You know, it's the earth’s magnetic field drawing <br />Solar particles into the polar regions.' <br /> <br />His son expressed a shame that <br />Then broke his father's heart. <br />With the mystery of the aurora borealis revealed, <br />An entire new world before his eyes <br />Just fell apart.<br /><br />K.
