I sat for a while <br />on the grassy verge of reason <br />dangling my thoughts <br />in water pools of sanity <br />while I plucked the shadows <br />from a wilting flower <br />and watched my memories drift <br /> <br />but I was disturbed <br />by the sound of silence <br />and my thoughts dived <br />under the water <br />and twirled and eddied <br />with the passing streams <br /> <br />they were pulled <br />by undercurrents of the past <br />that lifted sleeping sediments <br />from their beds <br /> <br />and I watched them <br />I waited for them <br />to burst through waves <br />and gulp fresh life <br />to choke me<br /><br />Sheila Knowles<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/on-the-verge-of-reason/
