When the streams and lakes go dry <br />Migrating birds without stopping fly by <br />When the temperature rises high <br />When there is not a single cloud in the sky. <br /> <br />When the land is full of dust <br />The grass is brown and past its best <br />When in day people like to rest <br />And the sun blazes down with zest <br /> <br />When people become desperate <br />When pressure mounts on the state <br />About the rains when they debate <br />And start to think about their fate <br /> <br />Then and only then does it arrive <br />On which the life of millions strive <br />Monsoon begins in the solar month of five <br />Precious as honey in a bee hive. <br /> <br />Monsoon rains begins in the month of May and lasts for four months and is the life line of the people of peninsular India, who depend on good rains for good harvest. <br /> <br />19/7/06<br /><br />Vikram G.
