The mighty fortress of my mind <br /> has shutters I can close at will. <br />Defences I can hide behind <br /> from other minds that wish me ill. <br /> <br />I am quite safe from sneak attacks <br /> whilst my shutters are in place. <br />The only thing my system lacks <br /> is contact with the human race. <br /> <br />Sometimes you have to take a chance <br />and choose to let somebody pass <br />your closely guarded mind’s entrance. <br />You might find one amongst the mass <br /> <br />of minds which can broadcast. <br />Someone to whom you can relate <br />A friendly approach which at last <br />perhaps relieves your lonely state. <br /> <br />We lucky ones who can select <br /> which messages we will receive. <br />Which ones accept and which reject <br />are far and few I do believe. <br /> <br />The rest are subject to the din. <br /> the random chatter of the crowd. <br />Who cannot rein their own thoughts in <br />I’m very glad that I’m allowed <br /> <br />to be in control of my mind. <br />I can erect my own defence <br />and leave the random noise behind. <br />The broadcast thoughts which make no sense. <br /> <br />23-Nov-06<br /><br />ivor .e hogg<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/halt-who-goes-there/
