In an eddy of time our story ran aground. <br />A mere broken off wing bereft us of the cloud <br />But in our memory we still hear warbling sounds <br />And nothing is missing under the sober shroud <br />But the two strangers who fancied to be living. <br /> <br />I have retrieved footprints that were full of cinder. <br />The voice did not succeed in breaking yoke or door. <br />By these orchids I shall keep watch over the corpse, <br />But the grave, I know it, I shall never enter <br />As the deceased posted her stronger mate before. <br /> <br />A heavy slab of night muzzled the howling wind. <br /> <br /> <br />CALME PLAT <br /> <br />Dans un remous du temps s'échoua notre histoire. <br />Pour une aile brisée il n'est plus de nuage <br />Mais la rumeur du chant habite nos mémoires <br />Et rien n'a déseté notre détresse sage <br />Que les deux étrangers qui se croyaient vivants. <br /> <br />J'ai retrouvé des pas où reposaient des cendres; <br />La voix n'a pas brisé le carcan ni la porte. <br />Au buisson d'orchidées nous veillerons la morte <br />Mais je sais le caveau où je ne dois descendre. <br />Car l'absente a laissé sa compagne plus forte. <br /> <br />Une pierre de nuit a muselé le vent.<br /><br />Michel Galiana<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/dead-calm/
