i've been coasting, <br />aimlessly floating. <br />i have everything i need <br />and that fact has relieved <br />me of that drive <br />on which i used to thrive. <br />where will i find my motivation? <br />who will be my inspritation? <br />it will come from within <br />and now i begin <br />to think for the first time, <br />spurred on by this rhyme. <br /> <br />i've jumped through the hoops <br />but i now seem out of the loop. <br />if i am able to succeed <br />i just dont feel the need. <br />i believe in something new <br />something i hold to be true. <br />it is the spirit of humanity <br />caught up in its next calamity. <br />i want to see, feel, hear real life <br />with its catastrophe and strife <br />why do i sit here and contemplate <br /> when the world is in such a state? <br /> <br />take me to the dying child, <br />let it make me wild <br />so that one voice <br />can make a choice <br />to mobilise the troops <br />and gather the groups. <br /> <br />take me to the dying animal <br />that we devour like hannibal. <br />the endangered species <br />we treat like faeces. <br />the spirit of humanity <br />gives in to its latest vanity. <br /> <br />but please don't put me in an ivory tower <br />from which i will point and glower. <br />what good am i there? <br />what use is my glare? <br />how can i ever philosophise, <br />go to great lengths to surmise, <br />when i have not been in the thick of it <br />and witnessed those vast amounts of shit?<br /><br />Claudia Fitzgerald<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/actions-speak-louder-than-words/
